In this article, I will be exploring potential benefits and side effects of Cystone® Himalaya Wellness Company. The company claims that this product has the potential to effectively dissolve kidney stones. Whether this claim is right or not will be assessed based on scientific data. I'll provide an in-depth evaluation. Ultimately, the decision to purchase depends on your individual preferences and needs.
Since Ayurveda and Alternative medicines are very famous among Indian people, There is no surprise that most quack companies are based in India. Even though Himalaya Wellness Company is one of the most famous "Herbal brands" in India, It also sells some questionable products with no evidence based effectiveness. By the primary research it is found that Cystone® is no deferent than any other non-effective herbal "medicine".
Claims by the Company:
- Cystone® exhibit antimicrobial properties.
- Cystone® protects the irritated or inflamed tissue.
- Cystone® helps to dissolve kidney stone.
My opinion:
Not everything that claims to be Anti-Microbial can be called "medical drug". This comic illustration is enough to put the record straight.
Many herbs exhibit potential anti-inflammatory effects; however, it's important to note that having such properties doesn't guarantee problem resolution. Take Turmeric, for instance—it possesses anti-inflammatory properties, but its effectiveness is hindered by low bioavailability when ingested, limiting its ability to reach its full potential.
Now for the claim about kidney stone dissolving property, We need to find studies that evaluate its effect in resolving this issue since most of the people take Cystone® for the sole reason of removing kidney stone. Fortunately we have researches that have evaluated its effectiveness.
Evidence Based Scientific Study:
Aim:
To determine effectiveness of Cystone® in removing/preventing kidney stones in humans.
Methodology:
The study was conducted on ten patients (4 men, 6 women) with recurrent, analytically confirmed, calcium containing kidney stones by the researchers at Mayo Clinic, USA.
The randomly assigned patients were prescribed 6 week treatment program of Cystone® (As per the dosage recommend by the manufacturer) in this placebo controlled trial. Urine analysis was done before and after treatment regime. This study was repeated for one year.
Result and Conclusion:
Cystone® on average increased the tendency to form stone rather than decrease it. Although they recommend the need of long term study for better understanding.
Verdict:
It is advised to avoid this tablet as the tablet did not demonstrate significant beneficial effects during one year treatment regime.
